Brandon Burlon

Brandon Burlon played 4 seasons in the Stars/Coyotes AAA organization. Brandon played on the 1990 Stars/ Coyotes AAA team and won 1 OMHA gold and 2 OMHA silver medals with the team.

After graduating from minor hockey Brandon played 2 seasons with the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League.

Brandon is currently entering his Junior year at the University of Michigan and was selected in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils 52nd overall.

2. Favourite hockey player growing up ?

Bobby Orr

3. What number do you wear ?

#6...I've been wearing it since my rookie year of Junior A with the St. Mike's Buzzers...that's the number the coach gave to me and I've grown to like it quite a bit.

4. How many seasons did you spend with the Stars/Coyotes AAA program ?

I spent 4 years/season with Stars/ Coyotes AAA program

5. What is your fondest memory while playing Coyotes /Stars AAA hockey ?

My fondest memory was winning the OMHA's against the Markham Waxers, in Markham.

6. Who was your favourite coach while with the Stars / Coyotes organization ?

Joe Arruda. He always taught me not to give an inch to anyone on the ice at any time. He hated losing just as much as I did and he instilled a sense of pride in me that comes when you win.

7. Where did you play after minor hockey ?

I played for the St. Mike's Buzzers in the OPJHL for 2 years.

8. What is your greatest hockey achievement ?

My greatest hockey achievement is receiving a scholarship to play hockey and attend school at the University of Michigan.

9. What is your favourite thing about the University of Michigan ?

My favorite thing about playing for the University of Michigan is being part of the tradition that has been created there. It's a special feeling to know that you're part of something that so many people would love to have the opportunity to experience.

10. What advice would you give kids playing minor hockey today ?

If there's any advice I'd I give to kids playing minor hockey today, it would be to have fun. I remember playing minor hockey and I was never concerned about points or ice time, but I was always excited to come to the rink whether it was for a practice or a game. Work hard, have fun, and good things will happen.

11. What advice did your parents give you while playing minor hockey ?

My parents, Bruno and Anne Marie, always told me to be humble, work hard, and enjoy what I was doing. Today, I still carry myself with those thoughts in mind.

12. Who is the best player you have played with and you have played against ?

I only played with Steven Stamkos for 5 games at the Canada Winer Games in the Yukon but played against him for 4 years while I was with the Stars/Coyotes. He is still by far the best player I've played with and against.

13. What is your favourite car ?

My favorite car is a 1950 Ford Pickup. Coolest truck you'll ever find.

14. What is your favourite food ?

I don't have a favourite food but I'll eat anythnig my mother makes. She's a phenomenal cook and I love being home and eating her food.

15. What is your favourite sport other than hockey ?

Golf

16. What type of music is on your iPod ?

I have everything on my iPod. I just don't have the pop, hip-hop stuff that everyone listens to today. More or less just rock and stuff; Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Beatles, Foo Fighters, Oasis. That kind of stuff
